Correspondence
Richard Crosby remarked that there were 16 members and 1 guest attending the previous meeting and that 1 auction catalog was the only piece of mail received since last meeting.
Old business
WPNS programs have been already printed, but the information about officers is not accurate on the programs since it was late coming. Rich Crosby suggested to reprint and update the programs since the cost of reprinting the programs is not prohibitive (only $32), there is an opportunity to correct and update information about the officers and the titles of some talks which were not finalized yet at the time of printing. Everyone agreed.
New business
Phil Christ brought to members’ attention that 2 boxes with WPNS materials including original ledgers are still in his possession. They were not transferred with the Society's papers to Tom Uram' storage out of concern for the safety of the contents. He volunteered to hold on to the boxes until a more secure storage space is found for the archives.
Rich Jewell gave an update on the upcoming PAN Lecture Series and banquet. Speakers include:
Cliff Mishler with a talk on Numismatic Publishing: Past, Present and Prognostication;
Dennis Tucker on Hidden Profits in Modern US Mint Silver and Gold Medals;
Douglas Mudd - on The Olympic Games: History and Numismatics;
Pat McBride on Rare Coin Basics.
The PAN Banquet will be held at La Mont and the invited speaker is John Mercanti.
Matt Campbell reported on the planned online auction at the PAN show with online bidding and possibility to preview the lots at the show on Thursday and Friday.
Ed Krivoniak will continue to be a contact and a lead for the WPNS fall banquet speaker Ed Hill.
After the business part was concluded, the meeting continued with the program during which Dick Gaetano talked about Hopalong Cassidy. Mike Drabick interrupted the talk with the news that the Hoppy Museum in Cambridge, Ohio was destroyed by fire on September 4th.
Program was followed by the usual talk and show time, during which members shared information on new finds and purchases.
